Volunteering opportunity for Chaplains at Peterborough Regional College
The Multi Faith Chaplaincy team at Peterborough Regional College are currently seeking volunteers to serve at one of their three sites across Peterborough; Peterborough Regional College at Park Crescent, University Centre Peterborough, also on Park Crescent and Guild House, which is a branch of Anglia Ruskin University and is based in Oundle Road.
Peterborough is a richly diverse, multicultural and multi-faith city. This diversity is reflected in the make-up of learners in PRC and UCP and as such it is important to create an environment which makes sure that members of any faith or non-believers are treated with respect, dignity and fairness and are encouraged to participate in college activities and functions.
The Multi-faith Chaplaincy team is made up of volunteers from the main faith groups in Peterborough. The team offers advice, guidance and one-to-one support on matters of faith, religion and belief. Multi-faith chaplaincy also offers group tutorial sessions on faith, beliefs and related issues.
Stephanie Pedlar, the Multi Faith Chaplaincy Team Leader explains the role of the chaplain "As Chaplains we seek to serve the students and staff in a variety of ways including the celebration of Religious Festivals, coffee mornings, advice, 1 to 1 support, meditation, prayer groups and discussion groups. We take time to talk to people, to wander around and chat with students and staff. As a volunteer, you could just help out at a coffee morning or get more involved depending on what time you can give. If a Chaplain has a particular gift such as meditation and would like to use it to serve the students and staff, then this would be encouraged."
