Light Project Peterborough needs a Volunteer Fundraiser

Garden House Project
Light Project Peterborough is entering an exciting time with the new homelessness project at the Garden House, where we encourage people who are homeless and who want to change their life style, to explore the many services on offer.

From a chat with a support volunteer to a more detailed discussion with our project workers, we are inviting people to meet us in the Garden House for a safe, peaceful and purposeful journey to set realistic goals for moving forward longer term.

We are a Christian charity, which offers Jesus’ love to each person with whom we have contact. We have volunteer doctors, dentists, chiropodists, hairdressers and more to offer support and guidance.  Our 4 housing officers are employed by the council but work in our lovely centre, keen to help the varying accommodation needs. Our gardens offer a peaceful place too, but needs much attention. So we offer our guests the opportunity to help us in small jobs around the centre.

At present we have a 6 month lease with the Cathedral until end of March 2019, with the promise of further time. So we would like to recruit a fundraising volunteer with enthusiasm and experience to help us raise the sums we will need.

Ideally, we would like a person who shares our values and passion for helping people who are homeless, who will quickly pick up an understanding of our vision, and who will work within the trustee and management team.  It is likely that our new fundraiser will be experienced at working with or within large
organisations in a fundraising capacity and have grant application experience. They are likely to have appropriate IT and social media skills.

Key targets will include;

  • Developing strategies to encourage new or increased contributions
  • Developing a charity wide fundraising programme
  • Developing and maintaining a system to monitor targets and progress
  • Compiling and developing materials to submit to granting and other funding agencies.
  • Creating a donor database
  • Preparing materials for fundraising events.
  • Recruiting other volunteers to help with fundraising events.
  • Recruiting sponsors and securing commitments from possible donors.
  • Preparing a budget for publicity and other materials.

Our new fundraiser will work closely with the Project Manager, treasurer and Chair of trustees.

Reasonable expenses will be paid.
