Project Manager Alex Stockbridge
The first action of the Gen2 Project was to employ Alex as our Project Manager. He is happy to answer any of your questions...
Alex's main role is to ensure that the Project runs smoothly, keeps to its core aims and objectives and that we learn from everything we do.
A Summary of the Gen2 Project
The money from the Strategic Development Fund is being invested over six years in high-quality training and employment of eight children’s and youth missioners to develop patterns of innovative and effective outreach and discipleship amongst young people, with a view to replicating this elsewhere. The Diocese’s successful Youth Ministry Xpect Apprenticeship scheme is being developed from a one year into a five-year training and employment programme. The scope of the new Project is also being expanded to include ministry with children and families, and an emphasis on intergenerational ministry.
Apprentices will progress into an undergraduate training course lasting up to three years, and will then be employed full-time. The missioners will be parish-based but will also have a Deanery-wide role and will work closely with the Gen2 Youth and Children’s Team.
The training and employment of the eight Missioners will take place with staggered starts. Currently we have two Missioners in training (Year 1), two about to start their courses in September (Year Zero) and two in early talks.
