Care Zone Updatecarezone

WHO WE ARE
Care Zone exists to end the cycle of poverty for the most vulnerable in our communities. We help families/ individuals in crisis to access high quality furniture and household goods that have been donated to us by members of the public, as well as providing showers, clothing and household furnishings. In addition to practical support, Care Zone volunteers take time to listen, care and signpost people, to access further support to help deal with the underlying problem. Care Zone also enables and empowers people with barriers to employment, through training and volunteering opportunities.

Our mission is to address the impact of poverty by providing practical support, care and compassion to the most vulnerable in our city.
We tackle our mission in four ways:
Provision
We provide good quality furniture, household items and baby equipment at no cost, through recycling donated goods from the public. We also offer regular showers, clean clothes, and hot drinks to homeless people in our community and signpost them to housing services.
Restoration
We provide enriching work placements and training opportunities for people who may be socially excluded, to help increase their employability.
Volunteering
We offer meaningful volunteering opportunities to local people who want to make a positive contribution to their community.

HOW CAN I HELP?

DONATE
Care Zone relies on the donations of the local community. We offer high quality goods to those who visit us as a way of communicating our value for people, and so we ask that all donations are in good condition.

HOW CAN I RECEIVE HELP
Those in crisis and in need of support are referred by Care Zone to registered local statutory and community agencies, having identified individuals facing exceptional pressure and in need of emergency furniture. Care Zone provides good quality furniture to those in genuine need. Our service is not intended to be an opportunity for people to replace or upgrade furniture.
We partner with organisations such as Citizens Advice PeterboroughCross Keys Homes, and the Housing Support Team at Peterborough City Council who can refer you to us.
If you or someone you know needs to access Care Zone but isn’t connected with any of these organisations or a Support Worker, please call us on 01733 575083 and we will be glad to advise you further.
If your organisation works with vulnerable people who are in crisis and require practical support, we’d love you to register with us so that you can make referrals. In order to begin this process, please call us on 01733 575083.
