2 x Part-time Project Workers - 3 month contract 

Winter Night Shelter A
Local charity Light Project Peterborough are getting ready to run the Peterborough Winter Night Shelter (PWNS) for the homeless and are seeking two part-time Project Workerss to join the project for a fixed 3-month period.    This is the 3rd year of operation

The project will provide an evening meal, safe bed for the night and breakfast the following morning for up to 8 homeless guests.

The PWNS will run 7 days a week from Monday 11th December until the morning Monday 12th March.  It will continue throughout the Christmas / New Year period. The roles are required in order to ensure the smooth and effective running of PWNS primarily focusing around three key areas:

  • Building Relationships 
  • Volunteer / Host Church Co-ordination
  • Logistics
  • Supporting Guests

The PWNS is run on the Housing Justice Rolling Church model whereby 7 Churches each offer their Church as a venue for one night a week.  The venues for the host Churches are as follows:

  • Mondays - Salvation Army, 203 Bourges Boulevard, PE1 2AU
  • Tuesdays – Dogsthorpe Methodist Church, Birchtree Ave, PE1 4HP 
  • Wednesdays - Park Road Baptist Church, Park Road, PE1 2TF
  • Thursdays - Southside Methodist Church, 129 London Road, PE2 9DD
  • Fridays - All Saints Church, Park Road, PE1 2UL
  • Saturdays - Brookside Methodist Church, 40 Gunthorpe Road, PE4 7TG
  • Sundays – St Mary’s Church, Church St, Stilton, PE7 3RF
  • Central Meeting Venue – New Haven Night Shelter, Towler Street, PE1 2TX 

These positions are offered on a fixed term contract for 13 consecutive weeks working split shifts of 4 days on and 4 days off, including Bank Holidays.

Remuneration of £4,000 gross would be paid for each position.
